After the Streamer installer completed, I can't open the Streamer program.

If installation has finished but Splashtop Streamer still cannot start, please try the following suggestions:

Windows Streamer:

  • If you are using Windows XP, and Splashtop Streamer will not start after installation has completed, use Task Manager to stop the SRServer.exe process.  Then manually launch again.
  • We found that if a service process named Terminal Services is disabled, this would prevent the Splashtop Streamer from being launched.  If it is disabled in your case, please enable it manually from Task Manager/Process.

    Note that the Terminal Services process exists only in XP Professional (not in XP Home).  You can find the service as follows:

    1. Right-click on My Computer and select Manage from the menu.
    2. In the Computer Management window, open Services And Applications in the left pane and click Services.
    3. In the Services pane, there should be a Terminal Services item in the list in the right pane.  If it is disabled, right-click on Terminal Services, select Properties from the menu, then select Manual and click Apply.   The Start button will then be enabled.
    4. Click the Start button to start Terminal Services.  The Splashtop Streamer should then start up automatically!
  • Renaming the plug-in folder (under C or D:\Program Files\Splashtop\Splashtop Remote\Server) in Windows Vista or Win 7 can solve the "Streamer failed to launch" issue if you also have other Splashtop apps like FileHound, CamCam, Whiteboard...
  • Try un-installing the previous installation, restart the PC, then install again.

Mac Streamer:

  • Please make sure your Mac Streamer has been updated to v2.3.0.4 or above, in which we have fixed a known issue related to the Mac Streamer failing to launch.
  • Remove these two files from the  ~Library/preferences folder, then restart the computer to see if there's any difference. (only for Mac Streamer v2.2.x or below versions)

- com.splashtop.Splashtop-Streamer.plist

- com.splashtop.Splashtop-Streamer-UsageTracking.plist

  • Follow these steps to completely uninstall, then install again:

a) Update the Streamer to the latest version if it is an older version.

Download the Mac Streamer at:   http://www.splashtop.com/home
b) Double-click "Splashtop_Streamer_Mac_vx.x.x.x.dmg"
c) Double-click "Uninstall Splashtop Streamer"
d) Click "Run" to un-install Splashtop Remote.
e) Input your user password to continue the "Run" process, if the system requests.
f) Restart your Mac.
g) Confirm that the Streamer is removed completely (the Splashtop Streamer icon will no longer exist in LaunchPad).

caution-icon.gif Note:  Please don't change the Streamer default installation location.  It must be located in the Applications folder in order to be successfully launched or un-installed.

    I downloaded the streamer for pc (laptop) and I can't install it. I keep getting the following message:

    This installation package could not be opened. Verify that the package exists and that you can access it or contact the application vendor to verify that is a valid Windows Installer package.

    Any help please? Thanks

    @Valyina,

    I am guessing the package might be corrupted, please visit [ http://www.splashtop.com/personal ] to re-download Streamer package to see if it could work.

    @Valyina,

    Do you use Windows 8 RT? or normal Windows 8? Streamer currently does not support Windows 8 RT.

    Io ho scaricato la versione 12.04 per Linux al link   http://www.splashtop.com/streamer/linux#download-client e ho scaricato:

    L'installazione è stata effettuata senza alcun problema, tuttavia quando provo ad avviare l'applicazione non succede nulla, quale potrebbe essere il problema? Grazie per il vostro aiuto

    I can only use the splashtop when my tv ( wich i sometime use as a monitor, via HDMI) Is on. When it's on, I l can easily log with my IPad. If not, then the loging process get stuck. I have the apple mini icon, I click on it, it starts the loging process but never get to complete. Why Is it? If it helps, I use Mac Mini 2010 with Mountain Lion, And an IPad.

    Sorry, I forgot to post that the problem was that I thought I was signed in on the PC, but I was not.  After I discovered that and made sure I was signed in, all worked well.

    Just bought this application for our ipad mini and am trying to get this streamer installed on my windows 8 PC but the download doesn't want to work. Just shows a swirly by the mouse pointer for a second or two then stops. I have tried everything I can think of to get this installed but nothing seems to do the trick. I have never encountered any issues on this computer before, well not until I tried to install this streamer. Not sure what else I can do.

    just bought an iPad Air and try to connect it with my iMac, Snow Leopard

    Installed  by the book, un-installed it, installed it, un-installed it, nothing. I get all the information on it, filled in the IP adress etc.

    Shame, it look so promissing.

    Reading all the comment earlier is it possible that Splashtop can do something about it? Try it out themselves on an iPad and Mac?

    Hope so....................................................................

    Hello, i have downloaded the app for my iPad in the app store no problem. However, like many of the above, once i download the streamer for my mac mini, it runs through installation, tells me its complete...and then nothing. the streamer software simply does not exist anywhere on the mini. i have searched everywhere, uninstalled, restarted, re-installed, gone through the above multiple times. I downloaded the latest version, 2.5.8.4. It simply will not open a streamer for me. I want my money back!

    OK, after only 1 reply from Splashtop i called Apple and got a refund from the Appstore. Splashtop i am sure is a great app if you can get the streamer to work, but suspect that Mac mini's aren't able to download and use the Streamer.

    Ok. I just got this app for my iPad, and it won't download the streamer. It just keeps going back to the app itself, telling me it doesn't see any of my computers. Any advice?

    I also want to be very clear on what's happening with this non-download: I went to the "Download Streamer" tab as instructed. When the screen says "if your download hasn't started, click HERE". I do this. It opens up four different links: Main site - Download Failed Site 01 - new tab opens, and it tells me Safari can't open due too many redirects Site 02 - see Site 01 Site 03 - See main site comments I'm trying to get videos I need for testing material. Help, please!

    I am using Windows 7 64 bits edition. Splashtop used to work fine several monts ago. Now it is no longer working for reasons I do not know. I have tried EVERYTHING to get it work, uninstall/reinstall, reboot hundred times, use older versions, used the cleaning utility proposed, etc. The installation seems to work correctly, the icons shows up in the icons bar, I successfully logged to my splashtop account and then the icon disappears.... there is no useful support on this website. What a nightmare.... I give up and decided to uninstall it FOR THE LAST TIME...

    I am actually having the same exact problem as Renauld.G I believe. Windows 7x64: SRServer.exe instantly closes everytime I attempt to launch it manually and it fails to launch on it's own. Strangely enough I attempted to use it while not logged in, it actually connected and allowed me to type my password to log into windows. Once it got into windows the application crashes and ceases to work. I've rebooted, reinstalled repeatedly and even wiped temp folders, and registry entries before re-installing to ensure it was clean. the Service is running fine but nothing else works.

    @Srelysian & Martinez,

    That might be different issues. Do you use AMD graphics on your Streamer computer? If so, could I know the Catalyst version on it?
