After the Streamer installer completed, I can't open the Streamer program.

If installation has finished but Splashtop Streamer still cannot start, please try the following suggestions:

Windows Streamer:

  • If you are using Windows XP, and Splashtop Streamer will not start after installation has completed, use Task Manager to stop the SRServer.exe process.  Then manually launch again.
  • We found that if a service process named Terminal Services is disabled, this would prevent the Splashtop Streamer from being launched.  If it is disabled in your case, please enable it manually from Task Manager/Process.

    Note that the Terminal Services process exists only in XP Professional (not in XP Home).  You can find the service as follows:

    1. Right-click on My Computer and select Manage from the menu.
    2. In the Computer Management window, open Services And Applications in the left pane and click Services.
    3. In the Services pane, there should be a Terminal Services item in the list in the right pane.  If it is disabled, right-click on Terminal Services, select Properties from the menu, then select Manual and click Apply.   The Start button will then be enabled.
    4. Click the Start button to start Terminal Services.  The Splashtop Streamer should then start up automatically!
  • Renaming the plug-in folder (under C or D:\Program Files\Splashtop\Splashtop Remote\Server) in Windows Vista or Win 7 can solve the "Streamer failed to launch" issue if you also have other Splashtop apps like FileHound, CamCam, Whiteboard...
  • Try un-installing the previous installation, restart the PC, then install again.

Mac Streamer:

  • Please make sure your Mac Streamer has been updated to v2.3.0.4 or above, in which we have fixed a known issue related to the Mac Streamer failing to launch.
  • Remove these two files from the  ~Library/preferences folder, then restart the computer to see if there's any difference. (only for Mac Streamer v2.2.x or below versions)

- com.splashtop.Splashtop-Streamer.plist

- com.splashtop.Splashtop-Streamer-UsageTracking.plist

  • Follow these steps to completely uninstall, then install again:

a) Update the Streamer to the latest version if it is an older version.

Download the Mac Streamer at:   http://www.splashtop.com/home
b) Double-click "Splashtop_Streamer_Mac_vx.x.x.x.dmg"
c) Double-click "Uninstall Splashtop Streamer"
d) Click "Run" to un-install Splashtop Remote.
e) Input your user password to continue the "Run" process, if the system requests.
f) Restart your Mac.
g) Confirm that the Streamer is removed completely (the Splashtop Streamer icon will no longer exist in LaunchPad).

caution-icon.gif Note:  Please don't change the Streamer default installation location.  It must be located in the Applications folder in order to be successfully launched or un-installed.

    @Zabriel289, If you can see Streamer launched, it may be not related to installer. If you can't login your Splashtop account on Status tab, 1. what error message prompted? 2. your computer is connecting to a work network? any proxy setting in the network? This link may help if there's a proxy enabled. https://splashtop2.zendesk.com/entries/22116321-how-do-i-setup-prox

    Does anyone know if this issue has been resolved? I just purchased Splashtop 2 and I'm having the same problem others reported. The splash top streamer appears to start and then disappears. Have tried uninstall and reinstall and multiple reboots. Nothing has helped.

    @Bryan.Ruch ,

    Please update your Mac streamer to latest v2.3.0.4, it's fixed an issue similar to your issue.

    I have been working with the 2.3.0.4 version of the streamer. I tried again today. After the install runs, I see the icon briefly in the menu bar next to my other icons then it disappears. I have tried an uninstall, reboot, reinstall, reboot. Nothing seems to help. This is on my new Mac mini running the latest version of Mountain Lion.

    I'm attaching the SPLog.txt file but I didn't find it were some other documentation said.  It was in Users/Shared/SplashtopStreamer/SPLOG.txt.  Also, when I looked for the two PLIST files that I should delete, neither file was in the Preferences folder.

    @Ryan Ruch,

    Is there another user account running streamer on your mac? if so, please go to that user account and use Activity Monitor to kill SRFeature and Splashtop Streamer, then come back major user, reinstall v2.3.0.4 and try again.

    Jaff.Kuo, I am having the same issue as Ryan Ruch, I am the only user on my new Mac mini.  I too am running the latest version of Mountain Lion.  I have installed, reinstalled, rebooted several times.  No help.  Splashtop is in the Applications, but will not open.

    There are other users accounts but they were not running.  Just to check I signed on to another account and checked the activity monitor.  SRFeature and Splashtop Streamer are NOT running.  Tried reinstalling again and it's still not working.

    When I checked what my computer name was set to, it was blank.  I entered a name for Computer Name, uninstalled and reinstalled Splashtop Streamer and it is working now.  Thank you very much.  I didn't occur to me that the mac wouldn't have a default name assigned and not just be blank.

    My problem is a little different.

    I can start the streamer and it will run all day in the tray when not accessed by splashtop, If I connect, it will run for a short time and then quit. This is the first streamer version (2.3.0.4) I've had that crashes after launch. I have gone through all the normal processes of uninstall, reinstall, reboots and all that but it still crashes after a matter of minutes. Is it possible to have a repository of previous streamers so we can revert if necessary, or at least a link to the last version?

    The previous Mac streamer worked flawlessly on my machine, the latest is effectively unusable and has been since the update.

    The mac streamer v2.3.0.4 has some known issues may cause the issue you got, please try again with these steps and sequence.

    Please follow these steps to completely uninstall Streamer:
    (0). Go(Menu on upper left)-->Downloads to open the Download folder
    (1). D-click "Splashtop_Streamer_Mac_v2.3.0.4.dmg".
    (2). D-click "Uninstall Splashtop Streamer".
    (3). Click "Open" if there's a warning message box prompted
    (4). Input user password to continue the Running if system requests you.
    (5). Restart your Mac
    (6). Confirm Streamer is removed completely (no more Splashtop Streamer icon exists in LaunchPad).

    Follow these steps to uninstall Soundflower:
    1.Click "Go" on Tray menu(upper left)
    2.Click "Go to Folders" item
    3.Type "/System/Library/Extensions"
    4.Find the file "Soundlflower.kext"
    5.Remove it and restart Mac system
    6.Open the System Preferences -> Sound -> Output
    You should not see SoundFlower any more in Output tab.

    Reinstall mac streamer v2.3.0.4:
    (1). D-click "Splashtop_Streamer_Mac_v2.3.0.4.dmg".
    (2). D-click "Splashtop Streamer.pkg" and complete the installation procedures.
    (3). Restart computer again.
    (4). Please confirm that the Computer Name field in the Sharing screen is not empty.  You can find it under System Preferences--> Sharing. Fill your computer name if it's empty.

    Try again!

    If you have left your mac unconnected over 12 hours or still can't connect to it, before making another connection, please exit Streamer and re-launch again. We'll fix all these known in next update, it's coming soon, next week maybe.

    Just a quick update. After reverting to 2.2.0.2, the streamer crash went away and I had full uptime. I just tried the latest release and the streamer crashed after about 20 minutes, so whatever the problem was with 2.3.0.4 it seems to still be there with 2.3.0.8 on my machine. I have no idea where the instability lies but it's not there in 2.2.0.2. Sadly there is no warning, it just quits so I went back to 2.2.0.2 again. I'm ok with that as long as I can keep compatibility.

    @Gary.Butcher,

    There should be something wrong in our latest mac streamer.

    Could you share us some log files to help us address this issue?

    1. SPLOG.txt :you can easily find it from Spotlight on upper right

    2. SRStreamerDaemon_xxx : you can find it in Console/System Diagnostic Reports

    3. Splashtop Streamer_xxx : you can find it in Console/User Diagnostic Reports

    Looking forward to receiving your response.

    @Gary.Butcher,

    no connection with Splashtop 2, on your mac, please try these steps:

    1. SPLOG.txt: click Go(upper left)-->Go to folders-->type  "/Users/Shared/SplashtopStreamer/", you should find SPLO.txt there. Please attach it here.

    2. SRStreamerDaemon_xxx_xxx.crash: Launchpad-->Others-->Console-->System Diagnostic Reports(left pan)-->right mouse on it can reveal it in Finder.

    3.Splashtop Streamer_xxx_xxx.crash: Launchpad-->Others-->Console-->User Diagnostic Reports(left pan)-->right mouse on it can reveal it in Finder.

    Hope this helps. (please ignore if the folder is empty)

    I downloaded Splashtop on my iPad and the Download Streamer on my Win7 PC.  I log in and get a message on the PC to make sure I am on the Internet.  I am.  The iPad says it cannot find a computer.  I have installed it twice and still nothing.  What am I missing?

    @Jbrock1,

    We are guessing your Splashtop Account is not logged successfully on Streamer, so Splashtop Personal failed to find target computer. Is there any proxy setting on your target computer?
