I can't finish the installation for Streamer; it stops mid-way and no further response.

If an error occurs (or hang-up) during installation, you can try the following suggestions:

Windows Streamer:

  • If you get an error message immediately when executing the Installer file, it may have been corrupted during the last downloading.  Please re-download a new one and try again.

  • If you are using Windows XP, and get an error message like "Windows installer service could not be accessed," please follow the steps below to enable the Windows Installer service from the Control Panel: 
    1. Click the Start button, click Control Panel, then click Administrative Tools in "classic view"  — or, Performance and Maintenance and then Administrative Tools in "category view. "
    2. Click Services.  Find the service name "Windows Installer" and click that line so it's highlighted.  The Status column will be blank if the service is not currently running.
    3. If not running, there will be something like "Start the Service" on the left side of the screen — click it. That starts up the process on your system.
    4. Run the Splashtop Streamer installer again, and it should work!

     

  • It has been reported that the Kaspersky software running on Windows XP will block Splashtop Streamer installation.

  • If you have installed "Airfoil," the Splashtop Streamer installer will be blocked, and may hang while installing.  The solution is to un-install Airfoil, then install Splashtop Streamer again.  Or, add the Splashtop Streamer install.exe program to the "exclude" list under Airfoil's Automatic Hijack settings.  (Some users have reported that Airfoil also conflicts with DirectTV2PC's installer.)
  • One of our users informed us that he solved the installation error-1719 (on Win7 64-bits) by exiting out of the Comodo anti-virus application.  It has a built in "sandbox," which may be the cause.  Click here to view more detailed info about setting up.

  • If you get error code 1618, please try these steps to solve it.

    a.  Go to Task Manager.
    b.  Go to the Process tab.
    c.  Click on " Show all processes for all users." 
    d.  Find a SYSTEM process named mciexec and kill that process.  This should solve 
    the problem.

  • If you get error code 1152, this might be due to one of the following situations: 

    a.  There is not enough disk space on the hard drive to which files are being extracted. 
    b.  You don't have sufficient privileges to write files to TEMP file. 
    c.  The downloaded files may be corrupted.

    Based on the possibilities listed above, here are some suggested solutions: 
    1.  Download the Streamer again, from:  
    http://www.splashtop.com/streamer/download?from=remotedownload

    2.  Free up some disk space wherever possible on the C drive (where the Splashtop Streamer is installed).

    3.  Try to disable User Account Control (UAC) before installing.  Click on the following hyperlink to view an article about how to do this in Windows:  http://www.howtogeek.com/howto/windows-vista/disable-user-account-control-uac-the-easy-way-on-windows-vista/)

    4.  Right-click on the installer file, select Run As... from the menu, and then in the dialog box, choose to run as Administrator in order to execute the installation.

  • Clean the Streamer completely using our CleanUpInstaller.exe tool, then restart your PC and re-install the latest Windows Streamer again. 

    1. Download the attached ZIP file to your local computer.
    2. Extract the CleanUpInstaller.exe file to your local computer from this ZIP file (you may need to have an Unzip utility/tool to do this, on your side).
    3. Double-click on the EXE file to execute it.  A confirmation message box will appear.  Click the Clean button.  It will then clean all files and keys of the Windows Streamer.

 Mac Streamer:

  • Finally, just a note that sometimes a message box may pop up, but for some unknown reason it's in the background.  This may cause some confusion and falsely give users the feeling that the installer is hung up.

    I just installed the latest version of your software on a PC using Windows 7.  Never had a problem before, but now there is a problem. The latest version causes the mouse pointer to have an hourglass next to it constantly.  I had to uninstall because it was constantly using the processor.  Are you aware of this, and, if so, do you have some sort of fix for it

    Hi,

    i downloaded from splashtop.com the newer software version 2.0.0.4 and i use Windows 7 64bit. When i click the .exe file to install does nothing at all...! After that i checked on the Task Manager and the setup file runs on the background for hours......! After that i reboot my system and downloaded again the file and the same AGAIN and AGAIN.....

    I installed Splashtop 2, and cannot figure out how to create a Splashtop 2 account. The "link" in the Status tab of the Streamer to create an account does not work.

    Yesterday, I update to Splashtop 2 on my iPad.  Then I upgraded the streamer on my Windows 7 x64 machine.  That specifically said I was "upgrading" from the old version (yes, I did have the old version installed).  My iPad is on 4g and my computer is on our corporate network...It worked GREAT!

    Till this morning.  I shut down my computer (laptop) and take it home nightly.  This morning, after booting it back up, there were TWO splashtop streamers running.  Both of them gave an error that said it could not connect to port xxxx.  Litterally every second, I got a slide up error for this.  I think one would connect (diconnecting the other).  The second one would give the error, then reconnect.  This caused the first one to give the error and reconnect.  this caused the second one to give the error then reconnect....just my guess.  I ended up exiting out of both running processes, and the error went away.  I then manually reloaded the streamer and it is working fine again.

    Something might be messed up in installing over top of an older installation...causing two instances to be loaded.  If I manually try to load two instances, it won't let me.

    Help...! I have upgraded to Splashtop 2. Now, when Splashtop starts it asks me for an email and password. The password isn't recognised and the links to "Forgot your password" and "Create one" are dead I've re-installed and same problem,

     

    Is there anything I can do or is this a bug I have to wait for a fix for..?

    Just a heads up ! i was struggling to connect via 3g from the ipad to my computer remotley , even though i was logged in on the pc and also onto my google account . When i was on the company wifi there was no problem it detected my computer , but on 3g kept getting an error to download and install the streamer on my PC , which i had allready done. this morning once i got to the office i left the ipad on 3g , no detection of my pc ! I opened the streamer control window on the pc logged out of splashtop  , logged back in , and did the same for the gmail account , started the program again on the ipad and computer picked up the pc no problem. Maybe this helps someone.

    I recently received a popup message on my PC advising me to upgrade the Splashtop streamer.  I did so - and found that since there is no matching Splashtop 2 client for my tablet (BlackBerry PlayBook), I can no longer connect to my PC.  Any advice as to how I can either (a) connect to the new Splashtop 2 streamer using the existing Splashtop Remote client or (b) downgrade the Slashtop 2 streamer to the original streamer would be greatly appreciated.

    I realize that Splashtop is just trying to innovate, and that the iPad is their primary market (which means that Android and other users have to wait), but I don't understand why there was no warning on the streamer update that only iPad users should update at this point.

    I should probably add that when I tried to connect to my PC using the existing Splashtop client (see previous post), the streamer apparently started to accept the connection - then crashed, after resetting the screen resolution on my PC.  Very annoying!

    Had old version of Splashtop for a long time now, and no issues connecting over internet remotely or on local network, worked perfectly. Upgraded to Splashtop2 on my new iPad, and upgraded to the new Splashtop Streamer on my Mac. Connected fine when at home, thought everything was good to go. Went away from home and tried to connect remotely...and message said Splashtop couldn't detect my computer, to go to Splashtop.com and install the Streamer onto my computer- 1. Which I already had done so, and tested previously, 2. Kinda hard to do when trying to connect remotely, and actual computer is miles away.

    Computer was not in Sleep mode, nor Screensaver as I had turned them off specifically knowing they needed to be off to connect in previous version.

    Not sure what this update did to remote access, supposed to be free for current users, upgraded on all systems and devices....can't detect computer.

    Got home and tried to connect again, as had done successfully on Local network before, now 'Cannot connect to Computer' with S=03 E=84000101' in bottom left corner. WTF?!?

    Ok...not sure if this fixes things, as will have to wait and see if I can connect remotely, but can connect Locally again.

    Might help others, not sure....had performed a simple upgrade to the Streamer, as 'Update Checker' said I could do it from there. Did a fresh reinstall of the Streamer from the site this time, which replaced the other upgraded one. Can now connect Locally. Will try remotely later and give an update if that fixes for me, and may for others.

    Hi all, The new installer got a known issue, please uninstall Splashtop Streamer v2.0.0.4 then reinstall again to be a work around.     Is there or will there be an upgrade for the BlackBerry PlayBook?  The new version of Streamer introduced problems that did not exist in v1.

    when updating from original 1.7 version to new 2.o? version ... the phone would not connect wireless over an internet connection.. the update for the newer version had to be removed and the older version replaced to dial into desktop... Can this be fixed so the updates can work? I have a Motorola...mb865

    What a piece of garbage this is.  It wants you to create an account, but the link to "Create one" does not work.  Useless waste of time.

    upgraded software when prompted and cannot create a Splashtop account. The links for "Forgot your Password?" and "Create One" do not work. HELP!!

    Links to create an account or forgotten password are dead in the ST2 signon box. Pretty basic testing not completed? Doesn't bode well for the product.

    @Troy, @Maureen Petz, @Richard Dancer, sorry for caused all the inconveniences to you. The Create One and Forget your password link un-clickable is a known issue. We will fix it in next release. As a workaround, I would suggest you can exit and re-launch Splashtop Streamer to recover or instead applying for Splashtop Account on the login screen of Splashtop 2 client (on your iPad).

    If you are ipad user and have been upgraded to our Splashtop 2 app and Streamer 2.0.0.4(installed on your mac), please only login your Splashtop account and logoff gmail credentials to see if there's any improvement.

    iPad user....had reinstalled on computer the new streamer, even checked to see that it was using Splashtop account and not using Gmail anymore...same occurrence...shows computer, shows remote access icon, click to connect...nothing happens. No connection. Only get the prompt screen to visit Splashtop.com..download latest streamer onto computer - impossible to do, being away and far from computer, you know remote?...and then will not even be able to find it again only showing that same 'Help' display. Cannot change any setting in the 'settings' area to even attempt that even as could before in previous version. Thought everything checked out and able to connect when at home...but that's pointless, don't need the App then. Need it now while away...and cannot access, though everything is set up as should be. Need to fix this....and seems more widespread majority issue and not individual ticket type fix either.

    Hi all,

    We just released a new update for Splashtop 2 app v2.0.0.6 for iPad and Streamer v2.0.0.6, please update. They solved some issues you might have.

    For Streamer update, please use this tool to thorohghly remove old Streamer, then install the latest Streamer v2.0.0.6 and try again.

    1.download the attached zip file to your local

    2.extract the 'CleanUpInstaller.exe' file to your local from this zip file (may need unzip utility/tool in your side)

    3.double click on the exe file to excute it, it'll prompt a confirmation, then directly remove all files and keys for Splashtop Streamer

    4.re-install Streamer v2.0.0.6

    Please let us know if you still have problem about installation.

    So I did all the steps above and got no luck! Well at least I got to uninstall the previous version v1.5.5.2.

    But now I just can't get to install v2.0.0.6! The install does not start!

    "Splashtop_Streamer_WIN_v2.0.0.6.exe" is the file I am trying to execute... I am running a Win XP 64 bits

    On the iPad the app is already upgraded. WHAT SHOULD I DO???

    This is a little weird to us.

    Could you try this special build (Streamer v2.0.0.4) to see if it can install on your XP 64bits?

    (2) Extract the Splashtop_Streamer_Win_v2.0.0.4_forNotRun.zip to folder

    (3) Make sure setup.exe and setup.iss in the same folder which is definitely extracted

    Please let us know if you can successfully install this build.

    I have tried to install both also without any luck! Did it as administrator with both setup files on the same folder.

    Nothing happens! Went to the log you asked for and there is a folder with that name but no logs or files inside...

    :(
