Why isn't there any sound being streamed to my iPad?

Many users don't know that iOS will only allow playing sound from an internal music app, and will mute the sound being played by other apps.  In this case, you can hear the sound from the iPad's internal app, but won't be able to hear the sound from another app like Splashtop.  The following instructions can help you determine if you are having problems due to this situation.

For iOS 7, please check the instructions as below:

1.  Tap Settings > General.

2.  Under Use Side Switch to shown below, select Mute.  Then select Lock Rotation again to fix a bug from iOS.

3.  Swipe up along the bottom of the screen to display Control Center.

4.  If there is a slash across the Sound button as shown above, tapping it can enable your sound function again.

For iOS 6 (or iOS previous version), please check the instructions as below:

1.  Tap Settings > General.

2.  Under Use Side Switch to shown below, select Mute.  Then select Lock Rotation again to fix a bug from iOS.

3.  Double-click the Home button to display recently used apps.

4.  Flick from left to right along the bottom of the screen.  A sound control bar will display:

5.  If there is a slash across the Speaker button as shown above on the left, tapping it can enable your sound function again.

Please also view this article from Apple for more details (Only provided iOS 7 version):

If you still can't get sound on your iPad, please also check the settings on your Windows or Mac.

Please view the information at the following links to confirm that the Streamer side has been properly set up as well.

    SOUND RESTORED !!!!!   on ipad ios7 with mac os 10.7

    I lost sound after a recent upgrade. With the instructions above i was able to restore a very faint volume but this was frustratingly soft.  However full sound has now been restored by doing the following;

    1. Fully delete the soundflower downloaded with Splashtop (as above).

    2. Download the latest version of Soundflower from the maker's website that puts a Soundflower folder in Applications.

    3. Open the Soundflower folder in Applications and open the Soundflowerbed icon which puts a flower icon on top of your main screen. Open this icon and select Audio Setup.  Set all volume levels to the highest settings.

    A simple solution that I hope works for you too.

    I had the same problem.

    Now the sound is restored on my IPAD.

    I followed all the explanation above but I didn't hear anything.

    For me, the problem came from the "input" of the sound setting of my Mac.

    I chose soundflower (2ch) in the input as everybody.

    see n°2 : https://support-splashtoppersonal.splashtop.com/entries/22079626-why-is-there-no-sound-on-my-mac-or-why-do-i-hear-noise-coming-from-my-mac-s-microphone

    I also move the volume from low to high and touch the icon; the problem sound was fixed;

    Benpwn88,  I had the same issue.  I upgraded to el capitain and ios 9.0.2 on my Ipad and was no longer able to hear sound on ipad.  Today I tried uninstalling streamer on my Mac, rebooting, reinstalling streamer, reboot again and it seems to work like it always did and has sound on ipad and cuts off sound to mac when in use.

    @hairyelf2000 I emailed the company and they linked me to an update for the Splashtop Streamer. It updated me to Version 3.0.0.3 and my sound seems to be streaming just fine to my iPhone. So I assume it works just as well from a computer. They fixed my problem. If anyone has a similar problem I recommend checking the website for an update, since the in app update doesn't always seem to work. Cheers.

    After download the latest v3.0.11 I uninstalled the older version and rebooted Mac before installing the new streamer, however it still has no sound on my iPhone.

    IMac with ODD 10.11.1 and iphone6s with iOS 9.1... I triple checked the streamer sound settings is fixed on mobile only. What else shall I do?
