How can I set up the XBOX 360 controller for use during a Splashtop remote connection?

You can now use the XBOX 360 controller during Splashtop remote connections.  Please refer to the steps listed below to set it up.

  1. Please make sure the XBOX 360 controller's driver for Windows is installed properly on the target PC.  (You can just plug your XBOX 360 controller into the target PC, then run Windows Update to install the driver.)
  2. Run cmd.exe as Administrator on the target PC.  (You can find cmd.exe then right-click on it to run it as Administrator.)
  3. Go to the XBOX 360 controller's driver for Splashtop folder by typing:
    cd  c:/Program Files  (x86)/Splashtop/Splashtop Remote/Server/Driver/GamePad/
    and then press <Enter>.
  4. Run the XBOX 360 controller's driver for Splashtop by typing:
    install_driver64.bat
    and then press <Enter>.
  5. Restart the Streamer on the target PC.
  6. Build a Splashtop remote connection and plug your XBOX 360 controller into a device running the Splashtop client app.  The XBOX 360 controller will work.

note.gif  NOTES:

  • This function is now only supported during Splashtop remote connections from Splashtop clients for Android and Windows to target computers running Windows.
  • Please use Streamer v2.4.5.0 or later version.
  • Please use the commands "cd c:/Program Files/Splashtop/Splashtop Remote/Server/Driver/GamePad/" and "install_driver.bat" in Step 3 and 4 if using a 32-bit operating system platform.
  • If you have trouble using the XBOX 360 controller on the target computer, please refer to

When I enter in the line, it responds with "echo off", and I still cannot use my 360 controller

Back button doesn't work in game but instead acts as the back button for android and kicks me out of splashtop. Right joystick isn't calibrated properly up is down and down is down left and right work fine. Other than that everything works

Bygster is right... The left analog stick is the same way.  I can't play my game because up is down and down is down.  Everything else works correctly.  Please fix this as I would like to play games with the Xbox controller.  thank you.

I'm having the same issue. If you look at the "Setup USB game controllers" app in Control Panel, and go to the Controller Properties, you'll see that the analog sticks have a sensitivity issue.

If you press the left stick all the way up, it reports it as being in the down position, right stick, push all the way down, it reports it as being all the way down.

Notice that the problem only happens when you reach the extreme boundary of the X or Y axis of the sticks. If you don't push them all the way Up or Down, its somewhat usable, and you'll be able to control the game slightly, but it still isn't a solution in my mind.

I have the same issue, nexus 7 2013 and latest versions of app and streamer. So close to being perfect. It also doesn't fullscreen on my nexus.

    I have a different issue:

Splashtop creates the controller device, windows recognizes it. But it doesn't seem to actually transmit any information. No button presses or stick movements will make it work. Very frustrating.

    Asus TF101, Windows 8.

Philbert, I had that problem as well temporarily, and for me I think it was because I was fiddling with registry permissions. I uninstalled the driver from the uninstall .bat file in the same location as the installer, uninstalled splashtop from my PC, rebooted, reinstalled splashtop, closed splashtop, installed the appropriate driver (64bit in my case), reopened splashtop and it started registering input.

So I tried splashtop THD instead of splashtop 2, and it is almost perfect... Analogs work properly, seems to run more smoothly with less lag. But... Any button presses on my 360 controller seem to register both the corresponding 360 button, as well as an unknown keyboard keystroke that causes camera issues in most games. So close....

There was an update yesterday that supposedly fixed this issue but the release notes only reference the left stick. I'm on the road and dont have a controller i can test the new version with. Can anyone confirm both Up on the left stick and Down on the right stick behave properly?

Controller isnt registering at all. Im using ASUS TF300TG and Win 8.1 - Id appreciate if someone could help me to get it working.

Another Transformer owner here with no success with a controller. This time with a TF701T. Perhaps it has something to do with having to use the USB port on the keyboard. No buttons register in xbox controller properties.

Is there any way they can make the keyboard behave like a pc , kb, where holding down w makes you run foreward and not act like a longpress?

It looks like it connects perfectly (I can see the gamepad added in my computer, and the gamepad works on my tablet), except the gamepad is not linked to the windows one, I it recognize as the tablet buttons...

This worked fan-freaking-tastic for me. Connected to a Windows 7 box via Splashtop personal using my Lenovo Miix 2 with a wired Xbox controller attached to the tablet. No real issues here.

I too am using an ASUS Transformer tf300 with a wired XBOX 360 controller going through the keyboard dock.  Same issues others have posted: controller works in Android, and the controller is recognized in the target PC but no input commands are being registered.  I have another windows PC that I have successfully used to stream with a controller, so I believe the driver is installed correctly.

    First Setup

    ASUS>TF300T>Keyboard Dock-USB>Wired 360 Controller>Splashtop Personal>Windows 8.1>Splashtop Streamer Version: 2.5.5.4>Buttons don't work at all with target PC, but do work with TF300T

    Second Setup

ASUS>TF300T>Keyboard Dock-USB>Wired 360 Controller>Splashtop Gamepad THD>Windows 8.1>Splashtop Streamer Version: 2.5.5.4>Every button works minus the "Back" button and the "XBOX/Menu" button. Analog sticks truly work as analog input. Used in Conjunction with 2nd program Joy2Key, I am able to play any game/program. As the 2 buttons are not supported, I am often forced to use up one of the working buttons to switch between Key Bind Layout Profiles.

    Questions

First, is the gamepad feature/subscription required for Splashtop Personal in order for this feature to function? If so, I may be willing to pay it so long as all buttons are supported.... : \

Second, with the THD version, is Splashtop aware of the 2 buttons that are not functioning with my current configuration? If so, are there any plans for an update to correct for this? Unlike many that simply use the free version of Splashtop around the house, those of us that are using the Gamepad THD edition have paid for this application. Understandably, the on screen gamepad itself seems to work well enough (minus some compatibility or smoothness of some features). Seeing that Splashtop is able to support the XBOX 360 controller specifically, we had hoped to use all of the buttons on it.

    Concern

There is a feature built into the THD app to request additional games to be supported/new layouts created. I have not seen one new game added to this list since I first bought the app. Has this function been abandoned? I understand that we can create our own layouts, but if this is the case is there a way to release an update that removes this option to also remove expectations that new game support will be added?

Also, so far it seems that the Skyrim profile is the only one that works relatively well with the trackpad or mouse in most games (as the games are designed to lock the mouse to the center of the screen, yahda yahda). Is there any plan to allow customization of profiles with this feature also enabled. I mean, I love that I can setup my own profile on the screen, but if I want to use the mouse, I have to use the Skyrim layout. This may sound nit-picky, but just a feature of customization that I would love to see implemented.

Last thought. Could there also be a toggle button to lock the android cursor to the center of the screen? That may be a question for Android.... but if there were a way, it would make using a mouse REALLY beneficial. As it is, I drag my mouse ever so far and then I can't turn any further. I have to quickly turn all the way around in the other direction as my android mouse has hit the edge of the screen and thus Splashtop no longer recognizes that my mouse is moving in that direction.

One note about the THD edition I forgot to mention. In order for the 360 controller to work at all, the app has to be set into Gamepad Mode (you can disable to visuals on screen if you like) and each profile works a little differently. I've found that the Skyrim profile gives me the most functionality. As I said, with this profile only the "Back" and "XBOX" buttons do not work.
