Why can't I play some games or movies in Full Screen mode?

Those games are probably designed to run in Full-Screen mode.  Many popular games utilize the DirectX™ technology to render 3D graphics.  When these games are being played in Full-Screen mode (that is, not within a window), their graphics engine uses the DirectX technology to draw graphics directly onto the system's screen.

If you are trying to use the Splashtop app to play one of these games on a remote computer which is running in Full Screen, this situation will result in the Splashtop Streamer being unable to capture the desktop screen correctly through the Microsoft® Windows® screen-capture APIs.  In this case, you would need to reconfigure these particular games to run in "Windowed Mode;"  that is, to run within a window.

If your Windows OS is Win7 or Win8, and display is an NVIDIA GeForce graphics card with at least 512MB FB, you may be able to play games in Full-Screen mode, due to the optimization we made on them.  Please check this link for more details.

If you are using multiple monitors with your computer and are unable to play with Full Screen, please disable the additional monitors.  It may help.

note.gif   NOTE:  If your display already is NVIDIA GeForce but you still can't get a connection in Full Screen, please try this sequence again:

On the PC, minimize all applications or games which are in Full-Screen mode;  then connect with the Splashtop app;  and then restore the minimized applications or games.

    Your solution doesn't work. I have Nvidia and it still wont go fullscreen.

    This doesn't explain why you cant optimise Splashtop for other graphics cards.... I am sure that a lot of people would appreciate being able to play full screen games on any graphics cards...

    after all isn't that one of the main purposes for Splashtop personal?

    On my Splashtop streamer it tells me "optimised for AMD A series" why can't you fully optimise it????

    otherwise splashtop is a great piece of software.

    I gave up on Splash top for a while there due to no fullscreen support with AMD gpus, I was so excited to see the little "Optimized for AMD" on the streamer when i recently re-installed!!!! but wait ...........Nothing changed, im still having to use windowed mode for games whats the deal?

    @all,

    If you got AMD optimization icon showed in Streamer, that means the AMD graphic card and driver withyour sytstem is supported by AMD optimization feature. But currently, it could only work when establishting remote connection with your target computer running with 1080P and 720P, then open games during remote connection. Please try the steps I mentioned above to see if it could work.

    I'm having the same issue and it's really annoying. I just paid a lot of money for this app to play one particular game.... running an Nvidia 760 FTW edition...

    Not to sound hostile or anything but Splashtop devs stop telling us what we already know.  The solution you gave us for Nvidia cards doesn't even work and neither does the AMD.

    I agree with everyone above with an Nvidia card that states that full screen gaming isn't working for them. I have a 980 and it doesn't work. Try to play titanfall from a splashtop session and I'm immediately getting the error message. Tried everything above from the representatives resolution suggestion and still no dice. I have completely given up. If anyone can chime in that has gotten this to work please let me know.

    There are other applications that can do this. Like steam in home streaming for pc to pc. Or for your android client try the moonlight app, works great.

    @Johnnycasiano3,

    Could you please help to collect SPlog.txt at C:\Program Files (x86)\Splashtop\Splashtop Remote\Server on your streamer computer? Thank you.

    You know what would be a GREAT and SIMPLE solution in ANY PC?
    Have a "focus on window" option inside the app which would only display the area of the screen covered by the game's window, leaving everything else black or offscreen. Come on guys, you can do this.
