Why do I get a "satellite" icon on the computer name? My tablet and computer are on the same local network.

    @Simon Whyatt,

    If you still get satellite in a local network on ubuntu, probably it's caused by the router or different subnets. Please check the IP adress obtained on your android tablet and computer to have a confirmation.

    ex. 192.168.1.10 and 192.168.2.10 are in different subnets and will be treated as different network and get a satellite. In this case, Splashtop 2 for android app doesn't support manually specify IP and doesn't have a better solution. But Splashtop app v1 for android supports this feature.

    For router issues, please refer to the #8 above in this article.

    I always get the satellite even though both are running on the same network. Ridiculous this is allowed to happen to arp gramme you need to pay for. I want to know how to fix it and if you can't want a refund for the poor service

    I have a macbook pro and an iPad 2 on the same wireless network. I started to use this app about one month ago and at the beginning all worked fine. But soon I started to have the satellite problem… I made no changes on my network. Why it worked before and now it doesn't work anymore? My iPhone 4S has the same problem. My wireless modem is the Hauwei Hg521. Before all of this I figured out that I can't see the other computers also connected in my wi-fi network. I think that there is some relation between these two situations and I think that the configuration of my modem might be the problem. The point is that I don't know how to configure it or to fix my satellite problem. I also bought the paid version of Splashtop XDisplay and I cannot use it due to the same problem. I am wasting a lot of time that I don't have and I just decided to use the Splashtop products to improve my work, and I am wasting more time now… It is driving me crazy. Please, help me...

    We are working on another solution for connection in local network only, it will do as v1.x done before, it's coming soon, please stay tuned.

    So, where is the solution? More then six months had passed?

    @Eofreire,

    Local mode has been supported since ipad app v2.1.0.5 (Sep 2012). However, it's only supported by ipad app.

    Could you confirm again if you have enabled the firewall on your MacPro? or is there any settings change on router(or change new router) at your network?

    Restart router and macpro also worth a try.

    Please also confirm if there's any special setting on Hauwei Hg521 like we mentioned on this artilce sectoin #8.

    Tried all the advice listed here. Still nothing. Trying to connect an iPad 2 to a computer running Windows 8 Pro. Could really use some help!

    I've tried everything suggested here and still can not remove the satellite icon.

    I'm using a Galaxy S3 running Android 4.1.2 attempting to connect to my Macbook running OS X 10.6.8

    I think it may have something to do with the fact that I am on my university's network.

    Advice would be much appreciated.

    @j.t_chipman@yahoo.com,

    It's better to submit a support ticket for specifc help on your case, you may need to attach log files for our engineering's further check.

    Anyway, please update ipad app v2.3.0.6, uninstall streamer v2.3.0.2, restart, reinstall streamer,  and try again.

    @Psilver420 ,

    On our system, your android and mac are connecting to two different networks, so you'll see the 'satellite'.

    You can try to connect your android and mac to a same WIFI (same SSID) to see if there's any difference.

    Hi, everyone. I found something that might cause this problem.

    I had the same issue until I enabled "SSID Broadcast" on the router's setting page, and now everthing's fine. When I try to disable it again, Splashtop client shows the satellite icon.

    Does this happen to you guys?

    Every time I try to connect to my PC with my laptop I get the satellite icon.  I have to add a rule to the firewall exceptions in Windows 7 each time. I now have five identical rules opening the same ports!

    I bought Splashtop2 to use it between my iPad3 and my MacbookAir. Installed the streamer on the MB-Air...but I can't connect to it because of the Satellite icon. Both on the exact same WiFi network. This is very frustrating as a first experience.

    I installed Splashtop on my desktop Windows computer at work.

    I installed Splashtop 2 on mi iPad and Splashtop Remote Desktop on my MacBook Air so that I could access my work computer from home  I also subscribed to the Anywhere Access Pack for Splashtop 2 - Remote Desktop.  The ipad app works fine from home and I am able to access my work computer at home using the ipad.  However, I am not able to access the work computer from home using my MacBook Air.  When I take the MacBook Air into the office, I am able to access my desktop Windows  from my MacBook Air if I am in another area of the office.  Any help?

    @Lisaheller757,

    Your Macbook Air looks like installed Splashtop Remote Desktop v1.3.6, right?

    If so, please make sure you've logged in your gmail on both Air and the Streamer/Advanced tab. Splashtop account and Anywhere Access Pack are only v2 apps.

    @Lisaheller757,

    Actually, Splashtop 2 is a better solution for connection over Internet. It uses Splashtop relay servers(with Anywhere Access Pack activated) with a better performance and security. Your ipad seemed having Splashtop 2 installed.

    Anyway, Splashtop v1 is still working if the gmail credentials has been successfully logged in on both client and streamer sides. Please try your gmail on a Browser (https://accounts.google.com/Login) to see if it's a valid gmail account.

    When I log in from the link you gave above, it logs in just fine.  Can you tell me what to do?  I purchased the Anywhere Access Pack when I bought the Splashtop Remote.

    Since I installed the last update I can no longer connect to my mom's computer. It shows offline & asks if I want to wake it up when she is sitting in front of her computer with it on. Needless to say the wake up option was useless cause still didn't connect. Something in that last update caused this problem. Never had it happen before.

    @Vasile.Coica,

    Please double check the firewall on your pc, maybe Windows turned on the firewall automatically after update.

    Please also try uninstall streamer/restart pc/reinstall streamer to see if there's any difference.

    Dear Jaff.

    When I installed the splashtop2, it just worked fine. After one day the "satellite" icon is shown. There were NOTHING changed in my router, laptop, smartphone.

    Can you solve this?

    Thanks a lot. [it's a very nice program, and best is in it: it's FREE!!!]

    @Mrkisspeter,

    It's better to confirm again with the suggestions on this article above, your computer doesn't have any firewall from anti-virus software.

    Restart your computer is also a suggestion to see if helps.

    After Splashtop updated a few days ago, i am now unable to stream to my Android Phone. It works when i have the firewall turned off, but when its on, with the ports 6783-6785 forwarded, and allll of the splash top server applications (more than what is listed up there, and some that it suggests aren't even available[may have changed names of the files in the last update]).

    I have removed splashtop from my PC completely, and re-installed the application, and also on my phone. I still can only access my PC when the firewall is turned off. I have restarted my PC several times, and the last time was after applying all of these settings.

    after 7 day of free trial I can't use it like before becouse of the satellite icon...

    I re-install in the tablet and upgrade in the pc.....
